Mite Program (Ages 6-8)

The Mite Program is extremely popular with young players due to the blend of fun, hard work and instruction. All players should have a minimum of one year of skating of experience and be preparing to play at the Mite level in the fall. All instruction takes place on ice and players are divided into small groups (maximum 6 to 1 student/instructor ratio) based on skill and experience to maximize individual attention and ensure each student is challenged to improve.

Mite players can choose to take either Mite Power Skating or the Mite Hockey School only, but to achieve the maximum benefit we recommend taking advantage of the great savings offered with the highly popular two-week Mite Combo. The skating technique training, confidence and conditioning gained during the Mite Power Skating week allows the player to more quickly develop their hockey skills during the Mite Hockey School session.

MITE POWER SKATING

This five-day program features 80 minutes of challenging power skating training each day designed to refine each player’s skating technique.
Skills include:

  • Forward stride
  • Stopping and tight turns
  • Forward crossovers and backward crossunders
  • Pivoting and backward skating

MITE HOCKEY SCHOOL

This five-day program features 80 minutes of daily individual hockey skills instruction and skill games, culminating with an instrutional scrimmage on Friday.

  • Stickhandling
  • Passing and receiving
  • Shooting
  • Stick Checking

MITE COMBO - BEST VALUE!!!

  • The benefit of the total SHS program is best achieved through the 2-week combo. The advantage of this format is the complete approach given to the student’s game. Mite Power Skating refines skating technique and gives them a conditioning edge to concentrate on hockey skills during the Mite Hockey School. Players registering for the Mite Combo will receive a total savings of $40.00!

“Our son said that after this week hockey is his favorite sport. I liked the one-to-one coaching you provided at each station. Thanks for a great camp!”

A. Szatanski, Macomb

“I like your programs for two huge reasons. First, the coaches you employ appear to genuinely enjoy helping kids which is obvious watching them interact. Second, your programs emphasize developing a competitive attitude in kids that equates winning with challenging themselves to constantly strive to exceed their personal best as opposed to beating other kids or focusing exclusively on scores. My niece scored her first ever goal in a game after the clinic on a breakaway. The excitement and sense of accomplishment I watched her experience was worth every penny the clinic cost.”
